2024 Bylaw Amendments

Handbook Updates:

The WCVMA is a 501c6 tax-exempt organization. We have an official and legally binding handbook.  Based on our experience over the last 8 years, we would like to make the following updates to our handbook:

1) All board positions are for 1 year, but can be held by the same person for as many consecutive years as they are willing to serve.

2) We will call for volunteers for board positions annually in the summer and hold virtual elections if needed in the fall.

3) The board can consist of 2-4 members.  The roles are president, vice president, secretary, treasurer. A single individual may hold multiple positions if necessary.

4) We will hold 3 educational dinner meetings per year.

5) Membership fees and/or door fees will be determined by the board as the needs of the organization dictate.

6) If dues have not been collected within the past year, any employee of a veterinary facility within Washtenaw County will be considered a WCVMA Member.  If the board elects to reinstate annual membership fees, then individuals who pay membership fees will be considered members.  Regardless of membership status, all employees of veterinary facilities in and around Washtenaw County will be welcome at WCVMA event.  Rights that are reserved for members may include the following: board member elections, voting on changes to the WCVMA structure, reduced fees for dinner lectures, priority registration for dinners, invitation to member-only events.
